CLIENT NOTICE OF USES AND DISCLOSURES

MISSION STATEMENT

We deliver the supportive services low income individuals and families need to achieve housing stability and form relationships with providers of quality affordable housing to benefit these families and individuals, as well as the community.

Renaissance Social Services is a unique organization that connects those in need with housing that is safe, quality and affordable. After helping our clients attain housing we provide them with comprehensive, flexible, client focused support case management services. Our flexible service delivery model gives our clients the opportunity to live on their own with the support they need to be successful. Our goal is to empower the individual or family to become as autonomous from us and the social service system as possible.

To view the qualifications for our programs please look at the Programs page.

How are we unique?

  1. Most organizations that provide supportive housing services have the added burden of owning and managing the buildings in which they house their clients. We have found that this creates an inherent conflict of interest with the client. If they are having problems or make a mistake they become reluctant to seek out the services that will assist them because they know that this is the same entity to which they owe the rent or can kick them out for behavior problems.                                                                                                               Because Renaissance Social Services partners with affordable housing managers we do not own or operate the buildings in which we house our clients. This allows the people we serve to have the freedom to talk with us no matter what the problem, without fear of losing their housing.
  2. Our clients are the lease holder and pay their own rent. Not a program fee. This allows them to start the process of building or repairing their credit history and housing history. This means that if they leave, they have a landlord reference and some good credit built. For many this is the first time they have had their own apartment so it is their first housing reference and first regular payment they are making.
  3. We foster the re-integration of our homeless clients back into the community by having no more that 25% - 30% of the residents at any particular building as our clients. This gives our clients the opportunity to be a part of the community, not feel ghettoized, and understand that they are a part of the community just like everyone else.
  4. Homeless prevention is very important to our programs. We offer our services to ALL the residents at the buildings we serve. Most often these are short-term, crises oriented services with one or two follow-up visits. By providing these services we are keeping the buildings in which our clients are housed more stable, which benefits everyone in the building, and reducing the number of people who will end up homeless.

How do we have access to apartments?

We develop partnerships with developers and managers of housing that is clean, safe and affordable. Through these partnerships we have been a part of the creation of over 200 units of affordable housing. These partnerships give us access to apartments as soon as they become available, so we can help people get housing quickly.
